What's Brow Lamination and Is It Right for You?

If your brows have started going every which way in the mornings, wiry, growing in ten directions, refusing to sit flat no matter how much brow gel you use, you've probably heard someone mention brow lamination. It's had a bit of a moment lately, and it's one of the questions I get asked most at Central Clinic. So let's break down what it actually does, and whether it's the right call for you.
What Brow Lamination Actually Is
Brow lamination restructures the hair in your brows, so instead of growing every which way, it sits smooth, fluffy, and brushed upward. Think of it like a perm, but for your eyebrows instead of your head.
I apply a solution that softens the hair, then reshape it into the direction and shape that suits your face. A second solution locks that shape in place. There's no cutting involved, and no dye needed unless you want a tint added on top.
Who It Suits
Lamination works beautifully if your brows are naturally a bit sparse or uneven, because brushing the hairs up and across covers more of the skin. You get fuller looking brows without a single extra hair added. It's also a good option if you've spent years overplucking and you're trying to grow things back into shape.
If your brows are already quite full and just need a regular tidy, you might not actually need lamination, and I'll tell you that honestly in your consult rather than talking you into a treatment you don't need. Being upfront about what will and won't make a difference for you matters more to me than upselling.
What to Expect at Your Appointment
It's a relaxed appointment. You're lying back for around 45 minutes while the solutions do their work, and there's no pain involved, just a bit of tingling at most. Once the brows are shaped and set, I'll tidy the surrounding hair with waxing or tweezing so everything lines up properly, and add a tint if that's part of your plan.
How Long It Lasts and What Upkeep Looks Like
Brow lamination typically holds for four to six weeks, depending on your natural hair growth cycle and how you look after it. Keeping your brows dry for the first 24 hours and brushing them into place each morning will get you the most out of the result. Some clients add a brow serum between appointments to keep the hair in good condition.
This is exactly the kind of low maintenance win a lot of my Wanaka clients are after, brows that look done without doing anything to them each morning.
Not sure if lamination is the right fit for your brows? Send me a photo and I'll give you an honest answer, no pressure either way.
