How Long Do Lash Extensions Last?

If you've never had lash extensions before, the question I hear most after "will they look natural" is how long they'll actually last.

The Short Answer

Honestly, a full set typically lasts three to four weeks before you'll want an infill. That's down to your natural lash cycle, not the quality of the extensions themselves.

Your natural lashes shed every day as part of a normal growth cycle, usually two to three per eye, we just don't really notice them falling out. Each time one goes, it takes its extension with it. So over three to four weeks you'll notice the set looking a little less full, and that's completely normal. It's exactly when an infill brings it back.

What Affects How Long Yours Will Hold

A few things make a real difference to retention: how you clean and care for your lashes day to day, whether you sleep on your face, how oily your skin is, and how gentle you are with them. Lash extensions applied by an experienced, trained artist (AKA me), with the right adhesive for the conditions, will also hold better than a rushed set.

Keeping Your Set Looking Full

Booking infills every two and a half to four weeks is the easiest way to keep your lashes looking consistently full, rather than letting them thin right out before you come back in. Daily cleansing makes a bigger difference than most people expect too, it keeps the lash line clear and helps each extension hold on for as long as it naturally can.
